Agility

Shibas are an agile breed. Some have been reported to jump 3 feet in the air from a standing position. They are quick on their feet and have no problem changing their course of direction on a dime. As a breed, they are brave and courageous. The "sure-footed" Shiba can negotiate a steep incline with ease and grace. The athleticism of the Shiba Inu, as well as their nimble movements, make them a natural for agility.

Most Shibas thoroughly enjoy the sport of agility. It allows them to let their natural talents shine. They get to exercise and utilize those abilities that are part of their intrinsic structure. Shibas become easily bored with repetition. The constantly changing obstacle courses in the sport of agility are appealing to the Shiba's love of a good challenge.

Tsunami has enjoyed agility from his first class. Fellow classmates have labeled him "The Bullet."

Although he enjoys all aspects of agility, his favorite obstacle is the tunnel. "The Bullet" can sure kick up dust as he makes his way out of the tunnel for another obstacle! Tsunami also relishes the time with his canine friends in class.

Both Tsunami and Roxie have been active in agility. The natural athleticism of the breed is obvious as they maneuver through the courses - although the independent nature of the breed does show up occasionally!

Be sure to check out Tsunami's agility page and Roxie's agility page for their accomplishments.
